Aesop's Fablesis a collection of tales originally narrated byAesop, an ancient Greek story teller and a slave. It is believed his tales might have been the reason behind the addition Fables as a literary genre.
There are reliable references to Aseop by world famous philosophers like Aristophanes and Plato, quoted Aesop fables in their literary works. It is believed Aseop only narrated the stories and did not publish it in any form.
As the stories attributed to him are huge in numbers, sources state that there are many stories attributed to his name because of the absence of any known literary source. It is interesting to note that, most of the titles of the Aseop fables are proverbs.
