Synopsis

The Canterbury Tales, and Other Poems is the magnum opus ofGeoffrey Chaucerwho is known as the father of English literature. Written as verse and prose, these stories are narrated as the story telling contest during a travel to Canterbury Cathedral by Pilgrims. Unlike other works by the author, The Canterbury Tales does not define any audience.
Geoffrey Chaucer a multifaceted personality and achieved excellence other than writer such as a philosopher, astronomer, alchemist , courtier, diplomat, and also serving as a bureaucrat. While the England literary world was dominant by French and Latin as medium of language, Chaucer was instrumental in developing legitimacy of the vernacular English.
