Synopsis

Epics and Romances of the Middle Ages is an exploration of principal hero-lays of the six great epic cycles of the Middle ages written by the German scholar of medieval and modern Greek poetry, translated into English by M. W. Macdowall.  Though legend is not history, however it portrays the historical truths, manners and customs of historical ages by the imaginary hero and heroines of those ages through their courage, ability to fight their enemies and the way the conquered the kingdoms. Divided into three parts, first part explores The Amelung and Kindred legends, second part explores The Nibelung and Kindred legends and the final part explores Carolingian legends.
