Synopsis

Therese Raquin is novel written by the French writer and one of the most important figures in developing theatrical naturalism. Therese Raquin portrays the story of young woman whose unhappy married life with her cousin Camille lead to immoral affair with Laurent, who happened to be her husband’s childhood friend. The affair leads the lovers to kill Camille and create alibi of his death as an accident. Camille’s mother suffers a stroke after her son’s unnatural death and become paralyzed except her eyes. Though Therese and Laurent get married, they were unable to lead a happy life as the memories of their killing keep them apart. In the final moment they plot to kill each other, however end up committing suicide.
