Synopsis

Tartuffe; Or, The Hypocrite is satrical comedy play written by the French playwright Jean-Baptiste Poquelin popularly known by his stage name Molière. This controvertial work has been banned for almost five years, however eventually became a success.  The lead character Tartuffe was able to blind his master Orgon with his divine authority. With his influence in the family, he could eliminate the love of Valère who longs for Mariane, daughter or Orgon. Before succeeding in seducing his master's wife Elmire, the pious fraud Tartuffe is getting unmasked.
