The Piazza Tales is a collection of short stories written by American author Herman Melville, who is well known for his magnum opus Mobi-Dick. To recover from a financial crisis, Herman written the short stories and published in Putnam's magazine. However it did not end up fruitfully and his poverty continued and probably marked the end of his literary fame.
The stories include "The Piazza", "Bartleby, the Scrivener", "Benito Cereno", "The Lightning-Rod Man", "The Encantadas or Enchanted Isles", and "The Bell-Tower".
