The Sign of the Fouris written byArthur Conan Doyle, a Scottish physician and writer, also creator of the world famous detective character Sherlock Holmes.
This novel narrates the investigation of the mysterious disappearance of Arthur Morstan, a British Indian Army Captain. Mary Morstan, daughter of the captain receives pearls in parcels every year since her father has disappeared. After sixth year, the anonymous benefactor publishing an advertisement which asks the address of Mary Morstan.
Mary approaches Holmes to resolve the case with little information she knows about the parcels and the advertisement in the newspaper. The rest of the story narrates Holmes detective skills and unearthing the death of Arthur Morstan.
