Lady Susan is a short epistolary novel written by Jane Austen which narrates the story of a middle aged selfish woman who is trying trap men younger than her, while maintaining a relationship with a married man. Unlike Jane Austens other novels, the lead character Lady Susan Vernon is characterised as cunning, selfish woman who does not bother about any morality. Also in contrast to Jane Austen's characters in other novels, Lady Susan is not punshied for her attitude. Key characters in this novel include Frederica Vernon, daughter of Lady Susan, Catherine Vernon who happens to be Susan's sister-in-law and Charles Vernon brother-in-law of Susan.
