The Mantle and Other Stories is written by Nikolai Vasilevich Gogol, a Russian novelist of Ukranian origin.
His contemporaries regard him as one of the masters of Russian literary realism, though he wrote many romantic pieces such as “Evenings on a Farm Near Dikanka”, "Diary of a Madman", "The Carriage" and "The Portrait".
The Mantle and Other Stories is a short story collection influenced by his Ukranian culture, contains five stories such as “The Mantle”, “The Nose”, “Memoirs of a Madman”, “ A May night”, and “The Viy” with sub stories contained within the titles.
