Synopsis

The Sheik is a romance novel written by British novelist Edith Maud Hull and it became her magnum opus and eventually adapted to film starring Rudolph Valentino.  Considered as desert romance, the runaway success of this novel lead the author to write sequels such as The Sons of the Sheik, The Shadow of the East, The Desert Healer and The Captive of the Sahara.
The novel opens up with the lead character Diana Mayo who is annoyed with the aristocracy of English society, goes alone for an adventurous travel though the Algerian desert. She has been captivated by Sheik Ahmed Ben Hassan. Though she initially resists his love, but ultimately falls in love with him.  Later she has been kidnapped by one of the rivals of Sheik and ultimately saved by Sheik.
