Synopsis

Anne's House of Dreamsis the fifth novel of the Anne of Green Gables series written by the Canadian novelistLucy Maud Montgomery.
The novel opens with Anne getting married with her childhood sweetheart Gilbert Blythe and starts their life is a small house, nearby Four Winds Point where Gilbert starts his medical practice. Anne calls this house as “House of Dreams”.
Leslie Moore is Anne’s unfortunate neighbor, who was forced to marry the evil minded Dick Moore. Anne also meets many people and interesting among them were Captain Jim, a former sailor and Miss Cornelia Bryant, 40 years old unmarried woman. Dick Moore disappears for days and saved by Jim, who became invalid and lives now on the mercy of Leslie. Though Anne and Leslie become friends, however Leslie is envious about Anne’s blessed life, however her jealous end, when Anne’s first baby Joyce, dies shortly after birth.
A novelist Owen Ford, become a tenant of Leslie, writes a novel based on Captain Jim sailing experiences. Leslie falls in love with Owen, however he goes back from her house to publish his novel. Gilbert performs a surgery on Dick and it is revealed by him that Dick is already dead and he is his cousin George who looks identical to him, as their parents were siblings. Owen returns and become engaged with the Leslie, who is now relieved from Dick’s horrors forever. Owen novel published and Jim was proud to read his story and dies with smile in his face.
